Danny Lee Markle, 66 of Webster Springs went home to be with His Lord and Savior on Friday, October 11, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. He was born December 17, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Stanton John and Kathleen Gaye Cogar Markle.
Danny graduated Webster Springs High School in 1971 and attended Glenville State College. He was a well-respected Webster County Magistrate for 28 years; was an avid outdoorsman; and loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, whom he enjoyed taking on 4-wheeler rides around the farm. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He was a devout Christian and active member of Barton Church where he was Superintendent and Adult Sunday School Teacher. Danny was a loyal Mason and member of Addison Lodge #116 where he served as Secretary/Treasurer. In 2009, he was chosen as Outstanding Democrat of the Year for Webster County.
Some of his favorite trips included his annual Sugar Creek outing with his best friends, going hunting in Wyoming with his brothers, and traveling to Sunset beach, NC with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 years, Joyce Gerwig Markle; children Danielle (husband Eric) Brooks of Bland, VA, Seth (wife Sherry) Markle of Morgantown, and Gabriel (wife Leslie) Markle of Webster Springs; grandchildren Nathaniel Brooks, Parker Brooks, Liam Markle, Eliza Markle, and Reid Markle; sister Debby (husband Bryan) Moore; brothers Shannon (wife Jennifer) Markle and John (wife Tammy) Markle; and many other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Larry Joe Markle.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday at 12:00 noon with Pastor Brandon Moll and Pastors Bennie and Barb Cowger officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Markle Family Farm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Barton United Methodist Church c/o Judy Hall, 201 South Main Street, Webster Springs, WV 26288.
