Dale E. "Breeze" Underwood, 92 of Webster Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Louis A. Johnson Medical Center in Clarksburg. He was born August 30, 1922 in Skyles to Delford and Amy Belcher Underwood and was a lifelong resident of Webster County. He was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II where he was wounded in combat and received the Purple Heart. He was an active supporter of the DAV.

Breeze was a member of the First Baptist Church of Webster Springs where he also served as Deacon since February 2, 1969. He was very active in the church, was an avid Bible reader, enjoyed visiting with friends and family, and never met a stranger. Breeze retired from J.D. Cutlip's Store where he was a delivery truck driver. He was known for handing out juicy fruit gum when he was making deliveries in the truck. He liked to tinker with woodworking, enjoyed walking, and loved drinking coffee.

Breeze is survived by his wife Catherine "Kitty" House Underwood of Webster Springs; sons Randall (wife Audrey) Underwood of Morgantown and Kenny Underwood of Elkins; sisters Edna Anderson and Opalene (husband Don) Moffatt both of Webster Springs; grandchildren Andy (wife Amy) Underwood of Falls Church, VA, Aimee Underwood of Morgantown, and Eric Underwood of Victor; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Carl, Bill, and Denzil Underwood; and sister Edra Channell.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Breeze's life will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Webster Springs with Pastor Steve White and Rev. Nancy Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in Miller Cemetery, Webster Springs. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Webster Springs.
