Conley Osburn Lake, age 90, of Replete, went home to be with the Lord on December 15, 2025, at his home with his wife by his side, surrounded by their family.
Conley was born in Replete, on July 7, 1935 to the late Jennings Thomas Lake and Mildred Gertrude (McCartney) Lake. He put his faith in the Lord at a young age and was baptized at the age of 13.
After working for the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) where Conley was involved in the construction of the Sutton Dam and Holly River State Park’s Round House, he continued his professional career which revolved around the timber industry. He was known for his integrity and work ethic in all his endeavors. After retirement, Conley thrived on the farm gardening and spending time with his family.
Conley married the love of his life, Lula Mae (McQuain) Lake, and they were married for 66 years. They built a wonderful life together with a huge, tight-knit family of 72 people.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jennings and Mildred Lake; siblings: William Lake, Gay (Tom) Crawford, Paul (Juanita) Lake, Creed Lake, Minnie (Rexal) Buckhannon, Clenley (Violet) Lake, Lester (Janis) Lake, Frances (Montie) Jordan; and grandsons: Zachary Stout and Levi Stout.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lula Mae; siblings: Nellie (Steve) Georges, Edna (Cecil) Willfong, Nola (Lenard) McCray, Ernie (Peggy) Lake; sister-in-law, Dorris Lake; children: Connie (Roger) Cowger of Columbia, SC, Ricky (Pam) Lake of Hacker Valley, Karen (Jimmy) Stout of Webster Springs, Cecil (Linda) Lake of Hacker Valley, Randy Lake of Hacker Valley, Billy (Paula) Lake of Cleveland; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Services will be held 2pm, Friday, December 19, 2025 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with Pastor Reggie Stewart officiating. Friends may join the family for visitation from Noon-2pm. Burial will follow at the Replete Cemetery.
