Clifford Gum

June 25, 1937 — May 27, 2017

Clifford Gene Gum, 79, of Hacker Valley, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Born June 25, 1937, in Hacker Valley, he was the son of the late Guy Roosevelt and Thelma Glenora (Carpenter) Gum.

In addition to his parents, Clifford was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Glenville Gum, Geraldine Duke, Ronald Gum, Glenora Geroski, Donald Gum, and Elbert Gum; and his faithful companion, his dog, Sally.

Clifford was a truck driver for the Department of Highways. He liked to hunt and fish; and had a special talent for working on vehicles and motors.  He was a born-again Christian and attended the Independent Baptist Church of Cleveland.  He loved his family dearly and instilled a great work ethic in his children and grandchildren.  He was very proud of all of their achievements.  He was loved by many and will be missed by everyone that knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Patricia (Lane ) Gum; children, Clifford Wayne Gum (wife, Beth) of Woodstock, GA, and Jacqueline Joyce Gum-Chipps of Hacker Valley; grandchildren, Nicholas Devin Chipps (wife, Chelsea) of Morgantown, Tyler Landon Chipps and Caleb Webster Chipps, both of Hacker Valley, Miranda Brooke Gum, Jessica Morgan Gum and Skylar Landon Gum, all of Woodstock, GA; sister, Nola Grey Woods of Akron, OH; brother, Donald Dewayne Gum (wife, Linda) of Hacker Valley; sister-in-law, Sharon Gum of Hacker Valley, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Services to celebrate the life of Clifford will take place 1PM, Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home with the Reverend Chris Cosner officiating.  Burial will follow at Hacker Valley Cemetery, Hacker Valley.

Friends may join the family for visitation 6-8 Tuesday night at the funeral home.
