Clara Bennington

Clara Jane (Robinson) Bennington, 87, of Crawford, went to be with her Lord on Monday April 8, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.

She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and pets, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Born February 1, 1932 in Kanawha Head, she was the daughter of the late Owen William and Leola Maude (Cool) Robinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Genevieve Riley, Lilly Fisher, and Julie Langley; ex-husband, Cecil J. Simons; and husband Everett “Bill” Bennington.

Left to cherish her  memories are her children, Anna Ruth Lewis (husband, Jim) of Buckhannon, James Simons (wife, Yvonne) of VA, Inis Evans (husband, Gary) of Buckhannon, Junior Simons of FL, Ernest Smith (wife, Barbara) of Crawford, Susie Lee (husband, Randy) of Hinkleville, Eddie Bennington (wife, Debra) of Rock Cave, Dorothy Rowan of Buckhannon, Irene Haymond of Crawford, Linda Fisher-Elmore (husband, Bill) of Crawford, Billie Jo Springer (husband, Kenny) of Crawford, Nancy Groves of French Creek; brother, James  Robinson of Crawford; 55 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Services to celebrate Clara’s life will take place 12pm, Thursday April 11, 2019 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home with brother William Warner officiating.  Burial will follow at Cutlip Cemetery, Jumbo. Friends may join the family for visitation two hours prior to the funeral time.
