Chief Berry

Chief Dave Berry, 85 of Webster Springs passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at his residence. He was born May 19, 1928 in Webster County to Walt G. and Lillian (Dobbins) Berry and retired from the United States Postal Service after 45 years of service. He was a lifelong resident of Webster County and was honorably discharged from the United States National Guard. He was a member of the Webster Springs Volunteer Fire Department for 66 years and was Fire chief for 62 years. He will be missed by his family, his friends, and all the members of the Fire Department.

Dave is survived by his wife Helen Jean Berry; daughters Kim Groves of Webster Springs; sister JoAnn Mazzio of New Mexico; and granddaughter Kyla M. Groves of Morgantown. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Sue Dowis.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Dave's life will be held on Sunday at 1:00 PM at the Webster Springs Volunteer Fire Department. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made in Dave's memory to the WSVFD, PO Box 291, Webster Springs, WV 26288.
