Carlton Kurt Long, 69 of Webster Springs passed away December 5, 2021. Kurt was born July 13, 1952 in Parson and was the son of the late Fred I. and Grace Mitchell Long, Sr.

Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by a brother, Fred Long , Jr.

Kurt was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was a 1970 graduate of Webster Springs High School and was on the track team while in high school. Kurt was a coal miner at Sago Mines for several years; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting antiques.

Surviving is his companion of 27 years, Sheila Adkins, daughter; Amber Adkins; brothers, Jesse Long and his wife Lura and Kenny Long and his wife Sue; aunts, Wanda and Jennny Mitchell, life-long buddy, Mike Lynch, many nieces, nephews and friends and also his furr babies Bear and Kodah.

Service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Dodd and Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs with Pastor Marty Cowger officiating. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post #62 will follow at Miller Cemetery, Webster Springs. Friends may join the family for visitation two hours prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
