Arnel Silman

Arnel Junior Silman, 82 of Hacker Valley passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. He was born April 1, 1934 in Hacker Valley to Jesse and Flossie Simmons Silman and was a heavy equipment operator on the strip mines. He was a devoted dad who loved to hunt, fish and farm and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was affiliated with the Long Run Community Church where he previously served as Trustee.

Junior married his wife of 61 years, Goldie Pearl Silman, on November 4, 1954, who survives; son Rickie (Betty) Silman of Hacker Valley; daughter Nancy (Wes) Arthur of Webster Springs; brother Theodore Silman; sisters Pearl Flanagan and Dessie Roby; grandchildren Jameson Silman, Jessica Mullens, Kendra Arthur, Talia Lively, and Sheena Pauley; great-grandchildren Bryce Logan Mullens, Dakota Len Mullens, Jazlynn Paige Mullens, Mattison Short, and Austin Pauley; and great-granddaughter on the way Savannah Louise. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Mitchell Dwayne Silman; brothers Ed, Vanceford, Walter, and Okey Silman; sisters Irene Carpenter, Alta Mae Bender, and Nora Ann Simmons; and great-grandson Arnel Dwayne Lively.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Junior’s life will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Pastor Cecil Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Ware Cemetery, Hacker Valley.
