Arlie Simmons

Arlie E. Simmons, 97 of Diana passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Braxton County Health Care Center. He was born May 12, 1915 in Hacker Valley to Steve and Ida Carpenter Simmons. He was a lifelong resident of Webster County and was a retired coal miner. He enjoyed working around his house, raising Black Angus cows, gardening, farming, and running the store at Jumbo.
Arlie is survived by his son Wendell (Delores) Simmons of Mansfield, OH; daughter Janet (Al) Lyntz of Bay Village, OH; longtime companion Irene Hines of Diana; brother Eugene Simmons of Mansfield, OH; sisters Thelma Anderson of Hacker Valley and Retta Fisher of Mansfield, OH; grandsons Craig (Diane) Simmons and Matthew (Tracy) Simmons; and great-grandchildren Justin Ebenschweller and Wesley Simmons. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dempsey and Roy Simmons.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM with Rev. Eddie Bender officiating. Interment will follow in Big Run Cemetery.
