Anita Marie Tanner, 76 of Hacker Valley went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Webster County Memorial Hospital.  She was born May 14, 1936 in Diana, the oldest of 13 children born to George Thomas and Roxana Mae Weese Tanner and was a lifelong resident of Webster County.

Anita is survived by her brothers William J. and wife Judy Tanner of Webster Springs, Noah "Buck" and wife Linda Tanner of Owensboro, KY, Richard and wife Nancy Tanner of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Ray T. and wife Beth Tanner of Webster Springs, and Jeffery M. and wife Cindy Tanner of Weston; sisters Naomi R. "Peachie" Gregory of Webster Springs, Cora Mae Lindsey of Uniontown, PA, Sandra L. and husband Clark T. Mollohan of Hacker Valley, Carolyn J. Tanner of Webster Springs, and Brenda K. Black of Lancaster, PA; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Walter J. Sonny Tanner; and sister Linda Tanner.

She was Baptist by faith and attended Cherry Falls Chapel when her health allowed.  She enjoyed gospel and bluegrass music.  She was disabled at an early age and cared for by her loving mother until her mother's death in February of 1996.  She was then cared for by her sisters and brother Sonny and Home Health Care Aides Frances Lynch, Ada Escue, and others, as well as R.N. Elaine Hamilton.  A special thank you to Elaine Hamilton who continued, after her retirement, to visit and care for Anita during her last five years while living with her sister Sandra and husband Clark Mollohan.  A special thank you goes out to Dr. Robert Mace and the staff at Webster County Memorial Hospital, Nicholas Pharmacy of Summersville, Highlander Pharmacy, Webster County Senior Citizens, Minnich's Florist, and Dodd and Reed Funeral Home, all of Webster Springs.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM at Cherry Falls Chapel with Rev. Sam Nichols officiating.  Interment will follow in Big Run Cemetery, Diana.
