Opal Lee Johns Payne, 95 of Webster Springs went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Webster County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born May 01, 1922 in Erbacon to Thomas and Agnes Holcomb Johns and was the last surviving of her brothers and sisters. She was a lifelong resident of Webster County, was Free Gospel by Faith, and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Opal is survived by her sons Romie Payne, Richard Payne, Carl Payne, and Jessie Payne, all of Webster Springs; daughter Margaret Knight of Vienna, OH; grandchildren Larry Michael, Kathy, Terry, Christina, Janie, Becky, and Tracey, all of WV, Larry David and Shelly of OH; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Walter D. Payne; son Eldon Robinson; four brothers; six sisters; daughter-in-laws Patricia Payne and Lucy Payne; son-in-law Dolan Knight; and granddaughter Krista Knight.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Opal’s life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Charles “Chuck” Skeens officiating. Interment will follow in WV Memorial Gardens, Calvin.
