LeAnn Elaine Dodd Litton

LeANN ELAINE DODD LITTON, youngest child of the union of the late Ruby Neil Tracy Dodd and Charles E. Dodd, passed away at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House to await the second coming of her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on February 9, 2012. LeAnn was 60 years old, born May 16, 1951, in Buckhannon, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband of 30 years Selby Litton, and three sons, Bryan Litton, his wife Angela, and their four children Kayla, Stevie, Alexandria, and Remington of Boonville, Indiana; Adam Litton of Huntington, West Virginia, and Evan Litton of South Padre Island, Texas. Also celebrating LeAnn's life are Belinda E. Trainer, lifelong friend, "bestest girlfriend" and "BFF"; her siblings Linda C. Sanders of Clifton, Virginia; and Larry A. Dodd, M.D., of St. Clairsville, Ohio; as well as countless other family and friends. LeAnn was raised in Webster Springs, West Virginia. She graduated from Webster Springs High School where she was a cheerleader and a majorette. LeAnn was selected as the West Virginia High School Cheerleader of the Year in 1969. She attended Marshall University and later graduated from Huntington Junior College of Business. She worked as a paralegal before joining Huntington Junior College as Director of Admissions until her marriage to Selby Litton in March, 1981. LeAnn loved tennis, gardening and volunteering. As a member of the Huntington Junior League, she served as Rummage Sale chairman for several years in the late 80's. She was also chairman of the House and Garden Tour for the Junior League Garden Club. LeAnn was active in the tennis community, playing in USTA and Inco leagues for years. She enjoyed ballroom dancing (jitterbugging with partner Don Trainer) and later on, Zumba. She had a compelling personality, a brilliant smile, and a zest for life. She was also the self-appointed "mayor" of North Boulevard in Huntington, to the delight and enjoyment of her close neighbors the Griswolds, the Fergusons and the Wilsons, to name a few. LeAnn's favorite charities in Huntington included Branches Domestic Violence Shelter (she was a former board member), The Healing Place, and the Common Grounds ministry at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was fondly known as the "Milk Lady." She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church in Webster Springs, West Virginia, and attended Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Huntington. LeAnn graciously donated her body to the Human Gift Registry. A special memorial Common Grounds service will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, 513 10th Street in downtown Huntington. Details will follow.
