Clara Arvilla Garvin, 87 of Sutton, formerly of Webster Springs and Baltimore, MD, passed away on January 23, 2012 at Braxton Health Care Center.  She was born June 16, 1924 in Pickens, WV to James “Cannie” and Georgia Light Mallette.  She was a former guard at the Maryland Hospital and a former factory worker.  She loved gospel music and enjoyed her nieces, nephews, and family. 

Clara is survived by her son Willard Garvin Jr.; daughter Clara Mae Garvin; sisters Bonnie Carpenter and Peggy Mallette; brothers Jimmy and Robert Mallette; five grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Willard Garvin, daughter Pauline, parents, brothers Paul Anderson, Raymond Mallette, and Orie Mallette; sisters Juanita Robinson, Mildred Robinson-Hamrick, Kathryn Lake-Watson, and Bernice Ruth Mallette. 

Friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 11:00 to 1:00 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Mark Mallette officiating.  Interment will follow in Hacker Valley Cemetery.
