Joseph Ray Short, Jr. 56 of Craigsville, WV, died on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 at Summersville Memorial Hospital, Summersville, WV.  He was born in Syracuse, NY, April 23, 1954, the son of the late Joseph Ray, Sr. and Loretta Katherine Donaldson Short.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.  He was an auto body technician, a Baptist by faith, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and playing the guitar.

He is survived by his companion: Carol Peyatt of Craigsville, WV, sons:  Joseph and Jeremiah Goad both of Richwood, WV, daughters:  Heather Nicole Carte of Little Birch, WV, and Rosemary Ellen and Ashlee Lynn Goad both of Richwood, brothers:  Ray Short of Princeton, WV, and Rowland Short of Craigsville, WV, sister:  Adora Nichols of Craigsville, WV, and two grandchildren.

Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen, WV, with Rev. George Peyatt officiating.  Burial will be in the Alex Williams Cemetery, Camden on Gauley, WV.  Friends may call Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 1 :00 p.m.
